Laois Championships Results 2008/09

Grade 1  In the Ladies Doubles Lorraine Hill and Dawn Cobbe ( Portarlington Parochial) beat Sylvia Campion and Laura Hanlon (Carlow YM) 23-21, 21-17

               In the Men's doubles there was a round robin group where Mark Cobbe and Wayne Carter (Port ) took max points to win and Willie Stevenson and Aubrey Cox (Carlow YM) were runners up.

                The Mixed doubles was a very close competition.  Lorraine Hill and Mark Cobbe won all games to win.  2nd place couldn't have been closer with 2 pairs finishing with equal number of wins and when aces were added up Dawn Cobbe and Wayne Carter finished 1 ace ahead of Sylvia Campion and Willie Stevenson.

 

 Grade 4   In the Ladies Doubles Barbara Coffey (Abbeyleix) and Dolores Sheerin (Rahan) beat Laura Coe and Lesley Cobbe (Port) narrowly 21-16, 21-19

                The Men's doubles it was played on a round robin basis.  David Jackson and David Quinn (Clonenagh) took first spot ahead of the Port pair of Leon Coe and Trevor Cobbe.


                 The Mixed doubles was a again a close competition with Lesley Cobbe and Leon Coe (Port) just getting the edge on Barbara Coffey and David Jackson (Clonenagh) for 1st spot.

 

 Grade 5     The Ladies Doubles went to Linda Claxton and Chelsey Cox (Port) who beat the Portlaoise GAA pair of Catriona and Fionna Hearns in the final.

                   The Men's doubles saw John Culbert and David Quinn (Clonenagh) get the better of Padraig Hearns and Richie Chester (Portlaoise GAA)

                    The Mixed doubles was won by Mary Doogue and James Kilbride (Athy RFC) who topped the group ahead of Linda Claxton (Port) and David Quinn( Clonenagh)

 

 Grade 6       The Men's doubles saw Stuart Lavin (Rahan) and Ciaran Walsh (Portlaoise GAA) beat Jack Geoghegan and Padraig Dempsey (Port) 21-11, 21-16

                      In the Mixed doubles Sheena Kineely and Stuart Lavin (Rahan) dominated the competition with Alison and Ciaran Walsh (Portlaoise GAA) taking the 2nd spot.
